About Jonathan's Wish

Jonathan McCarthyJonathan’s Wish is a non-profit organization established to help families of children stricken with cancer.

Jonathan McCarthy was just 5 years old when he was struck with Glioblastoma Multiforme (a grade 4 cancerous tumor) on Mother’s Day 2006. Jonathan was an extremely intelligent little boy, often called precocious, bright, funny, and caring. His passion was dinosaurs. Jonathan aspired to be a paleontologist; if you had a question about dinosaurs Jonathan was your man. As most little boys do, Jonathan loved sports; he was an excellent swimmer, baseball player, and supreme soccer player. When asked by his grandmother what he wanted for his birthday he once said “I want to end world hunger, Nana.” Jonathan was always courageous and looked at the bright side things. He loved his family and friends and sadly passed away on March 8, 2007, surrounded by loved ones.

As I walk along this plain I see,
The glory that was meant to be,
Through Heaven's gate I came along,
Through many tears and Angels’ songs,

God's smallest Angel I have become,
for all the children when their battle's done.
A guide of light and love I am,
of hope and peace for all the land,
For it is my job you see,
to help the other children like me,

This prayer I send to all of them so everyone shall know,
It is my face they’ll see just after heaven's glow,
And with my light and love please know how much I miss you all,
And know it is my face they'll see when Angels come to call.
